I cannot believe the first month in 2018 has already came and gone! But I can definitely say January was a good month. I accomplished the goals that were mentioned in my January Goals post. If you missed it, you can click the link below.
There’s one word to describe my goals for February.. BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET! My goal this month is to develop an effective budgeting plan that will allow me to begin increasing my savings and decrease spending. As a full-time student juggling school expenses and basic life needs, it is important that this budget is flexible to adjust for unexpected expenses.
In my opinion, the hardest part of budgeting is sticking to it! My plan is to develop the habit of routinely tracking my spending throughout the month. Tracking my spending will allow me to gain a better understanding of my spending habits, and pinpoint what categories of expenses I can eliminate or cut back on.

The idea of leaving a legacy is to be remembered for your contributions and to make meaning of your existence. Your legacy can be more than just tangible things, and it doesn’t necessarily have to change the world. What you decide to do with your life today can leave a footprint on the world, and will be remembered by those who were impacted by your actions. Be the best that you can be.
I claim 2018 as a year of new beginnings, and my desire is to begin developing habits that will contribute to my personal growth and success. Successful Women Think Differently is a self-development book that is targeted towards the goal driven woman.
The author Valorie Burton is a professionally certified coach who shares 9 habits that will help you become happier, healthier, and resilient. In the beginning of the book, Valorie claims that successful women think differently, make decisions differently, set goals differently, and bounce back from failures differently. She defines success as “living your life’s purpose and embracing resilience and joy.”
After reading this book, I was left with sense of empowerment and encouragement to continue working towards my goals and pursue leadership positions with confidence. One key takeaway from reading this book is that successful women do not spend time dwelling on failures, because they focus on alternatives and solutions. We do not have control of every aspect of our lives, so why waste time worrying about things we cannot change. Overall, I would recommend this book to women of all ages, but more specifically women who are early in their careers. Valorie’s tips will help you to develop habits that will contribute to your success.
You don’t have to wait for the “right time” to start working toward your goals. Time flies and life is short. If you wait until later, you take the chance of waiting until its too late. It’s time to exude all of the greatness inside of you and live without fear. The right time is now! Happy Monday!
It’s a common routine to have a New Years Resolution at the beginning of each year, but how many of us keep to the resolution throughout the year? New years resolutions are generally forgotten after the new year has passed. Instead of going all in on New Years Resolutions, you can do something different.
I’ve learned that I am more productive when I set smaller goals for myself in order to achieve larger ones. This year I will share my personal goals for each month with hopes to inspire others to set personal goals that will allow them reach larger goals.
Read one book
This month I have begun reading a book entitled The Hate U Give. I’m excited for this read, because I have seen a lot of good reviews on this book. Once I finish, I’ll do a review post and share my thoughts on the book.
Trying to find a balance between work, school, and personal needs can be a struggle at times. I fell off from my regular gym routine at the end of 2017, because I couldn’t find time to go to the gym. But that’s no execuse. My goal this month is to start back on my gym routine, because I value good health.
Drink More Water
This may sound like a very small goal, but water is essential for good health and flushing out toxins in your body. Research says to drink at least 8 cups a day, and I know I haven’t done this regularly. So my goal is to drink at least 8 8oz cups a day.
If you happen to lose track of your goals, you don’t have to wait until the beginning of a new year or new month to start again. Start crushing your goals now! Good luck!
Happy holidays everyone! If you’re reading this you’re probably curious as to what made me decide to spend the holiday in Las Vegas. One fact you’ll learn about me is that I absolutely LOVE to travel! This post will be one of many about my travels.
My family and I decided to stray away from the Christmas traditions this year. Every year we wake up early, gather around the tree, open presents, and eat Christmas dinner with family. Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays because this is valuable time to be around family. However, after doing the same routine each year, it was time for a change.
We arrived on Christmas Eve, and stayed for 4 nights. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Honestly, it was a nice relief from the polar weather we were experiencing in Kentucky. We planned on doing a lot walking on the Vegas strip, so we decided to use Lyft for transportation which was more affordable than purchasing a rental car for the week.
The atmosphere in Vegas was warm and welcoming as everyone we came into contact with wished us a Merry Christmas. I cant forget to mention the food! Luckily, we were able to maintain the Christmas dinner tradition, because every hotel and casino offered a special Christmas dinner for guests.
After spending several days in Vegas, the flight back home was bittersweet. We were spoiled by the nice weather and unlimited food choices. However, I’m glad that I was able to do something different this year for the holidays while creating lifelong memories.
Step 1: Fresh, clean, hair. I started off by washing and conditioning my hair. I did not straighten my hair it just appears straightened from blow drying it.
Step 2: Section your hair. Before I start curling, I part my hair into sections. A part it down the middle and from ear to ear. This method will make this process a lot easier. Then, I tied up the top section of my hair so that I can start from the bottom and work my way up.
Step 3. Time to wand! I began with taking very small pieces of hair, because I wanted smaller curls. You can achieve this look with bigger curls, it just depends on your preference. The key to this look is to wand each curl in the opposite direction than the previous curl. You want to wrap the hair around the barrel pretty tight. Be prepared! This may be a long process depending on the size of your curls, so make sure you get a break or two.
Step 4. All done! After this long process it is important to use hair spray to hold the curls in place. Every hair type is different, so I didn’t have to use much product to get the curls to hold since this hair curls pretty well. Now you’re finished! As you can see achieving this look is pretty easy. Thanks loves! Don’t forget to Like & Comment! Let me know what you think!
